Music :: The Language of the Soul

RAWR

Is anyone else pissed off at the insane amount of bands today that have lead singers (who are males) sounding like little girls? Is it weird that older man can sing higher pitches than me, a young female?

I could sit here all day and list bands with annoyingly high pitched vocals but the winner of this girly fest is by far Coheed and Cambria. I'm sorry but the first time I heard them I seriously asked out loud if the singer was female because I really couldn't tell. Seriously. No joke. Even after seeing the music video, I still can't believe my eyes. But I will give them some credit because they have killer guitars compared to say... FOB.

The worst part of all this (and the most ironic part) is that I actually like listening to all these bands with whinny vocals. I like Anberlin, Motion City Soundtrack, The Darkness, etc. Hopefully this phase will pass. I guess it's an understandable side effect from wearing girly jeans. Hopefully that emo phase will pass too because it looks realllly uncomfortable for boys.

So that last post was a bit disturbing, wasn't it?

Trying to be a girly K-pop singer

This is what happens when you leave a girl in the room with a mic.

It's alright since only Marcy and I read this.

What is your musical pet peeve?

Hayley Westenra: Gainesville, FL

Hayley Westenra was amazing last night. She looks so different from her officially released pictures (every single one of them look different, btw). She's so tiny and cute though. I still think Charlotte Church is better with classipop, but she did a great job. Here's the list of the songs she sang. Aside from these songs, the pianist and the guitarist also did some really cool duets with contemporary songs and their own compositions. My memory escapes me as far as tracks 9 and 14 are concerned. Too bad they didn't have official programs.

1. Pokarekare Ana
2. Prayer
3. Both Sides Now
4. May It Be
5. Ave Maria (Schubert)
6. Never Saw Blue
7. Amazing Grace
8. Mists of Islay
9. Wiegenlied From Lorelei (?)
10. She Moved Through the Fair
11. I Say, Grace
12. In Trutina
13. Hine E Hine
14. Wuthering Heights (?)
15. Who Painted the Moon Black?

Holy Mozart!

Queen of the Night Aria

I'd like to know his name. Although I think his lederhosen is a little too tight.
